High potential and gifted education
At Carrington Public School, we recognise that some students excel not only in their learning but also in areas such as creativity, leadership, and sport, reflecting their unique talents and strengths. We are committed to nurturing the whole student, valuing each individual’s abilities and interests from an early age.
Our approach to supporting high potential and gifted students goes beyond academics, focusing on their personal growth and well-being as well as their intellectual development. Our dedicated staff continually enhance their skills in identifying HPGE students and provide differentiated learning experiences from Kindergarten to Year 6. Through open-ended tasks and personalised challenges, we create opportunities for students to explore and expand their potential in a caring, inclusive environment that celebrates their individuality.

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
At Carrington Public School, we carefully assess each student’s prior knowledge to tailor our classroom programs, ensuring every high potential and gifted student has the opportunity to thrive. We differentiate learning by incorporating increased complexity, challenge, choice, and provide opportunities for creative and critical thinking.
Our approach includes varied pacing and authentic learning experiences within supportive environments that encourage exploration and growth. Open-ended activities further inspire students to engage deeply and think independently. We use multiple assessment strategies, allowing each student to demonstrate their true knowledge and understanding in ways that best showcase their strengths. This daily practice ensures that every student is challenged, motivated, and supported to reach their full potential.
